3 Steps to Streamlining Your Podcast Promotion on Social Media

3 Steps to Streamlining Your Podcast Promotion on Social Media

Streamlining your marketing is one of the BEST things you can do for the success of your podcast! You’re already putting your creative energy into creating your podcast- getting it out there on social media should be on autopilot! Here’s how to easily promote your podcast on social media consistently!

Here are the first 3 steps I take to promote a podcast as a social media manager.

1. Keep a list on Airtable of all your episodes.

I have a spreadsheet of all podcast episodes, so I have quick access to all the details, the transcript, and info about the podcast guests. I also store quotes from each episode, so I always have something to pull for social media in the future.

2. Come up with a repeatable schedule.

If you haven’t checked out my Free 28-Day Content Plan for Podcasts, here it is in a formulaic way to promote your podcast with social media:

Day 1 – Announce new Episode (A)
Day 2 – Quote new Episode (A)
Day 3 – Quote Past Episode (Z)
Day 4 – Introduce or give an update on Guest (A)
Day 5 – Talk about your podcast in general / ask for support
Day 6 – Tease Upcoming Episode (B)
Day 7 – Share something fun or behind the scenes, ask a question, or comment on current events/news

Then Repeat!

Day 1 – Announce new Episode (B)
Day 2 – Quote new Episode (B)
Day 3 – Quote Past Episode (A)
Day 4 – Introduce or give an update on Guest (B)
Day 5 – Talk about your podcast in general / ask for support
Day 6 – Tease Upcoming Episode (C)
Day 7 – Share something fun or behind the scenes, ask a question, or comment on current events/news

This pattern can go on indefinitely. If your podcast doesn’t come out weekly, spread this out over the time you have between episodes. Add on or two more quote days. Add in an Audiogram. Always be sharing about upcoming episodes and events AND past episodes and milestones.

Once you have your episode info organized and your schedule hashed out, there’s one more piece you can streamline.

3. Use Canva Templates to quickly create graphics to promote your podcast.

You generally need 3 types of template types, and I like to have a variety of each type:

  • Templates to showcase the podcast & hosts
  • Templates to showcase guests and new episodes
  • Templates to quote episodes
  • Bonus: Templates to use as a background for your Audiogram!

When you have a handful of these templates to choose from, you can quickly drop in your photos or quotes, and you’ll quickly have content to share on social media that is in your podcast’s branding.

>> I even made a Canva template set just for Podcasters– change them to your preferred colors, and you’re good to go!

Why these 3 steps?

By having your podcast info, posting schedule, and canva templates already sorted out, you reduce decision fatigue. You’re no longer wasting time digging for information or figuring out what to do.

When a new episode comes out, all you need to do is plug it into your spreadsheet, pull out the pieces to your posting schedule, and drop it into your Canva templates. Then you’ve got all you need to start promoting your latest podcast episode!
