You KNOW you should be posting on social media more, but you’re busy running your business and it seems like just another thing you need to worry about.
Perhaps you have heard about a magical unicorn of a being called a Social Media Manager and you have scratched your head wondering if that is just the ticket to getting on track with your social media and sharing content regularly.
A Social Media Manager is a team member you should consider bringing on when you are looking to get help outsourcing your social media. They can typically handle the graphics, writing, scheduling, and other social media-related admin tasks and take them off your plate while offering a great return on investment.
While having someone handle these tasks might sound amazing, it might also sound scary or expensive. You may also worry that no one else could possibly represent you authentically online. You are working hard to build your business and handing over the keys to a piece of your brand can feel like a risk. These are all valid concerns, so let’s break them down and tackle them one by one!
It Comes Down to Trust
A large part of agreeing to hand over your hard-earned money to someone to handle your social media comes down to trusting that they will do a good job for you and that you will getthe outcome you expect.
What if they don’t uphold your brand identity the way you would?
What if you don’t like what they post? How they write? The graphics or photos they use?
I can’t speak for every social media manager, but the way I work is in collaboration with my clients.
Every client gets a content plan specifically tailored to them, written in their voice, and includes graphics unique to their brand look and feel.
My clients also get to see what posts are coming up and give feedback along the way. And if plans change, or we need to pivot (ahem, 2020), we adjust along the way.
When looking for a social media manager, ask how they work with their clients. A quality social media manager is your partner in your business. They are not your employee or boss. They help you by bringing their expertise to the table and together, creating something you are both proud of.
Let’s Talk About the Benjamins
It can be really scary to make a big investment in your business. You might be worried and wondering how much working with a social media manager costs? Will you be locked into a long-term commitment?
Again, I can’t speak for every social media manager, but I (and many others) offer customized packages that offer flexibility for YOUR needs. There are often tiers of service ranging from a little do-it-yourself to a total takeover. We can customize packages based on platforms and a posting frequency that works for you.
When looking to choose a social media manager, ask about being locked into a commitment. What are the terms of the contract? Is it month-to-month? Three-month minimum?
“I Should Be Able to Handle it Myself!”
You are absolutely capable of handling your social media yourself. There are tons of resources out there to show you how (have you heard of the savvy social school?), and you are a resourceful business owner who has probably already taught yourself how to build a website, do your own Quickbooks, and wear all the other hats!
This is not a matter of whether or not you CAN, but whether or not you need to and want to. Delegating and outsourcing is not a sign of weakness. It is actually a way to step up and move forward in your business by taking a burdensome task off your plate, so you can focus on your genius zone and doing what you LOVE.
Isn’t that why you started this business in the first place?
